Random Musings Christmas toys
34-geomag-tetrohedron.png

So it's a New Year, and I'm back to work tomorrow :-( However, I got a few toys (of various forms) for christmas, whcih have been occupying my time until I return to my cubicle.

The first of these is a deviously diffucult puzzle game called Superplexus, which is basically a more complex, 3D version of that classic game Screwball Scramble. Unfortuantely I've yet to master it: it walks a fine line between geniusly addictive and maddingly annoying.

The next 'toy' I've been wasting time with is one I bought myself, after spotting it in Selridges. It's called GeoMag, and basically is magnetic lego. In fact, There's a couple of photos up in the gallery of some of the stuff I've made! I think I may be going through some kind of childhood regression - now I've got a 'proper' job, car etc I don't want to turn into some kind of middle-aged old person - hence the toys ;-)

(BTW, my christmas presents did include three ties, one smart work shirt and mats for my car, so I think I was justified in buying slightly more fun things for myself...)

Random Musings Code you monkeys, Code!

So we've got this big software release out at the end of the month, which means it's pretty busy at work at the moment (as adam) had mentioned - I've been back since last monday, and I'm already up of my flexi by 6 hours 40 minutes, and that's including an early friday finish...... Oh, the joys of working for a living!

A tip for any current students :- stay that way for as long as you can afford - it's much easier, and you get so much more free time...

Random Musings Test, you Monkeys, Test!

I've just got in from work. Yep, at 10pm. We were doing a full system test today on the new software build, and although we were told in advance that it might go on into the evening, I didn't think it'd take until 9:40! Fortunately I didn't start until 11am (due to the advance warning), but even still it's been a long day <yawn>!

Site News Messing with HTML...

Added Mark Wubben's nicer titles link popups. They pop up on more sutff, and allow all sorts of extra funky stuff, which I have no intention of making use of for a while.

I have also found a very cool utility, complete with a web-based frontend for making those little buttons that seem to be everywhere, such as cool button?. See my new buttons on the left hand side :-) Why bother? Probably because I'm too lazy/tired to design some in Photoshop myself.... ;-)

Random Musings 'Cos it's fun to mess with google

If you haven't been following the various SCO we own Linux v.s. The World + dog lawsuits, then this post will mean absolutely nothing to you. For the remaining 1%, here's the /. crowd's latest attempt at Google bombing...

From LitigiousBastards.com:

SCO: Litigious Bastards

This is the campaign to Google bomb SCO with the phrase litigious bastards. Want to participate? Simply post a link to http://www.sco.com using the link text "litigious bastards".

For the HTML illiterate, here's the HTML code for the link:

<a href="http://www.sco.com">litigious bastards</a>

News Website mixing- the next big thing?

Note: I had written a much longer, more humorous and generally better entry, but then I closed down my web browser before posting it.... so you get the abridged version :-(

There's a somewhat cool site I found while wandering round the net, which allows you to take the layout of one webpage and superimpose the content from another site on top, like this - try it out yourself!

Site News Googlebombing is no more!

If you saw my post on the 20th, I was attempting to join in on the latest googlebombing of SCO. However, I think google has got the better of us: a search for litigious bastards on google puts my site at number 10, and I gave up after about page 12 (120+ pages) looking for SCO's! Looks like the days of googlebombing may be over...

Update: It appears I was a bit premature in declaring googlebombing dead - SCO is currently no.1 on Google for the aforementioned search!
