Site News It's alive!

You may have noticed that my site has been down the last few days or so. I had some problems with the hosting.

Apologies to anyone who may have emailed me in the last 2-3 days - I probably didn't get it, as I believe I may have lost my email aswell, but it's all back up now :-), although it was a bit touch and go whether I'd be able to get the content back!

Who knows, it may inspire me to add some new stuff ;-)

Site News Down with M$!

Taking a leaf out of Adam's book, I thought I'd publicise the attempt to try and stop Microsoft's new search engine before it can take a stranglehold, like most of it's previous products

So to all you webmasters out there, add the following lines to your robots.txt file in the root of your website:

User-agent: MSNBOT
Disallow: /

To stop Microsoft indexing your site. Because, as we all know, the search engine with the best links will be the most dominant.

Site News RSS feeds

As you may have noticed, I've added RSS feeds for a few people I know whose site puts them out (see the right-hand side sidebar). However, a few other people have sites that can put out RSS, but haven't got it set up!

Get with the times kids and sort it out - then I can add you too! :-)

Site News Dave shows off his (lack of) artistic skillz
Site News icon No category icon News icon Reviews icon Random Musings icon Photos icon

The latest site addition is my little category icons. I was thinking the site was looking a little sparse, and that a smattering of graphics would look quite nice, so I got out my crayons. And yes, I did draw them myself (apart from the photos one :-)

Site News Googlebombing is no more!

If you saw my post on the 20th, I was attempting to join in on the latest googlebombing of SCO. However, I think google has got the better of us: a search for litigious bastards on google puts my site at number 10, and I gave up after about page 12 (120+ pages) looking for SCO's! Looks like the days of googlebombing may be over...

Update: It appears I was a bit premature in declaring googlebombing dead - SCO is currently no.1 on Google for the aforementioned search!

Site News Messing with HTML...

Added Mark Wubben's nicer titles link popups. They pop up on more sutff, and allow all sorts of extra funky stuff, which I have no intention of making use of for a while.

I have also found a very cool utility, complete with a web-based frontend for making those little buttons that seem to be everywhere, such as cool button?. See my new buttons on the left hand side :-) Why bother? Probably because I'm too lazy/tired to design some in Photoshop myself.... ;-)

Site News quotable AmunRa :-)

It would appear my Captive review has found praise from it's author - he's put up an extract of it on his site. Looks like I'm a technical writer in the making - go me!

Site News Moving woes

Oh the joy of trying to move hosting.... Well I can't get the mod_rewrite voodoo previously mentioned to work, the best I can do is a somewhat coarse forwarding of the old /photos to the new gallery, and any other request to this front page. :-( Oh well, it's gonna have to do...
